Pop Email – Your Questions…

Post Office

Helen asks…

what does it mean to POP email and forward?

If you want to forward your emails, it will say ‘POP email and forward’… what does it mean?

admin answers:

POP refers to the method by which your web-based email messages can be read through a program on your computer.

A POP3 (Post Office Protocol) server is used to store email messages. Messages are collected from a POP3 (incoming) mail box using an email client such as Thunderbird, Outlook or Outlook Express.

Forward in this case refers to Automatic Forwarding rather than the case where you click Forward on an email to send to a friend. You need the POP3 feature to be able to set your account to always automatically forward your mail to some other account.

Unfortunately these features are not available with the FREE Yahoo email accounts. You’d need to upgrade to the PAID version – Yahoo Mail Plus @ $19.99 per year in order to use these options.

Web Hosting Hub – Your Questions…

Lizzie

Lizzie asks…

Web Hosting Question?

I’m considering a move from my current website host to Web Hosting Hub. After some research and a bit of communication with them, they seem to be one of the best. Has/does anyone out there have any experience with them?

admin answers:

A server hub is ideal place due to the fact that many have IT support and know how to keep things from going kaboom. If your nervous about the switch and wondering why you may need the extra abstraction between you and your website, contact them. Many of the more reputable places have a phone number, If not, I’d contact by email. When they don’t respond after a working week, my advice would be to not use them, since if you cant get in touch with them now, what happens when your site isn’t working? Anyway, Make sure they have PHP support, its a necessity to websites in this day and age.
