Your Questions About Domain Name Ownership Law

Mary asks…

Young writers who want to publish: have you read this yet?

This is 10 myths about copyrights that many uninformed young writers tends to assumed:
http://www.templetons.com/brad/copymyths.html

Some important points from the article:
* These days, almost all things are copyrighted the moment they are written, and no copyright notice is required.
* Copyright is still violated whether you charged money or not, only damages are affected by that.
* Postings to the net are not granted to the public domain, and don’t grant you any permission to do further copying except perhaps the sort of copying the poster might have expected in the ordinary flow of the net.
* Fair use is a complex doctrine meant to allow certain valuable social purposes. Ask yourself why you are republishing what you are posting and why you couldn’t have just rewritten it in your own words.
* Copyright is not lost because you don’t defend it; that’s a concept from trademark law. The ownership of names is also from trademark law, so don’t say somebody has a name copyrighted.
* Fan fiction and other work derived from copyrighted works is a copyright violation.
* Don’t rationalize that you are helping the copyright holder; often it’s not that hard to ask permission.

I have seen many young writers asking questions about copyrights, that is why I am posting this for you guys. Hope this help you.
If no one mind, ignore the grammar errors in the question…I am sleepy…
And yes, I just have to pay attention to those. I am serious with my grammar.

Your Questions About Domain Name Search Whois

Donald asks…

Why do I get this error when trying to manage my domain name?

I have the identical issue to the one posted previously, quoted below. The answers to this prior post were not relevant. I have been going around in circles. I can sign in to everything else on Yahoo, but they say my ID is not linked to the domain name. WHOIS says the domain name is at Yahoo. There doesn’t seem to be any way to get help on this. I need to update the forwarding on the domain name and I can’t get to the Domain Name Control Panel the help files direct me to.

Kathy

“Why am I getting this error at Yahoo domain control panel?
I bought a domain name a couple of years ago at Yahoo and when I last wanted to check the control panel, I came across this error message:

“Sorry, there are no Yahoo! Small Business services associated with the Yahoo! ID ”

When I do a Whois search, my account at Yahoo still appears to be the administrator’s email address of the domain.
What do you think the problem is? How could I contact Yahoo to resolve this problem?”

admin answers:

“Sorry, there are no Yahoo! Small Business services associated with the Yahoo! ID” means one of two things. Either your domain plan is no longer active, or it is active and you are logging into a different Yahoo! ID than the one you used to sign up. Our contact flow (http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/contactus) requires that your service is active and you can sign into the correct Yahoo! ID.

There are two ways to contact us so we can help. The first is to send an email containing as much information as you can about the domain in question and your account to . The second is to pull our phone number from your credit card bill. Either way, we are here to help you get control of your account again.
