Are Dashed Domains Doomed?¬Oª`©w¸¨ªÅªº»â°ì©O¡H

Rumour has it that there's another Google algorithm update coming up in February.¶Ç»D¦³¤H»¡¡AÁÙ¦³¤@ÓGoogleªººâªk§ó·s§Y±N¦b2¤ë¡C

This time Google allegedly wants to filter out web sites which they perceive as having overused keywords in domain names.³oÓ®ÉÔªºGoogle ¡A¾ÚºÙn¹LÂo±¼ªººô¯¸¡A¥LÌ¹îı¨ì¦³¹L«×ªºÃöÁä¦rªº°ì¦W¡C Keywords of course refers to what searchers are thought to be typing into the search engines.ÃöÁäµü·íµM¬O«ü¤°»òªº·j¯Á³Q»{¬°¬On¿é¤J¨ì·j¯Á¤ÞÀº¡C

Here are a couple of examples I found on MSN today:³o¸Ì¦³¤@¹ï¤Ò°üªº¨Ò¤l¡A§Úµo²{¦bMSN¤µ¤é¡G

A few years ago the search engines had difficulty understanding words unless they had spaces or hyphens (dashes).´X¦~«e¡A·j¯Á¤ÞÀº¤w«ÜÃø²z¸Ñªº¸Ü¡A°£«D¥LÌªÅ®æ©Î³s¦r²Å¡]¯}§é¸¹¡^ ¡C So webmasters registered domains with dashes between the words, knowing that the search engines would then rank their sites higher if the searched term was included in the domain as well as on the web pages.¦]¦¹¡Aºô¯¸ºÞ²zû¤wµù¥Uªº°ì¦W»P¯}§é¸¹¤§¶¡¡A´«¥y¸Ü»¡¡Aª¾¹Dªº·j¯Á¤ÞÀº¡AµM«á±N¥LÌªººô¯¸±Æ¦W§ó°ª¡A¦pªG·j¬dªº¥ô´Á³Q¥]¬A¦bºô°ì¡A¥H¤Î¹ïºô¶¤¤¡C

So what does all this mean to you, when registering your domain names?¨º»ò¡A³o¤@¤Á¹ï§A·N¨ýµÛ¡Aµù¥U®É¡A±zªº°ì¦W¡H

Well, first of all, remember this is just a rumour.¨º»ò¡Aº¥ý¡A½Ð°O¦í³o¥u¬O¤@ÓÁÁ¨¥¡C Colin McDougall of VEOReport.com says he has close contacts with important people at Google, including Matt Cutts, who have apparantly been feeding him these 'tips'.¬ìªL³Á§J§ù®æº¸veoreport.com»¡¡A¥L¦³±K¤ÁÁpôªº«n¤H¦bGoogle ¡A¥]¬A°¨¯Scutts ¡A½Ö¤]¦ü¥G³Q¥LÁý¾i³o¨Ç'¯µ³Z' ¡C
