Somebody Else Registered My Company's Name As a Domain Name.§O¤Hµù¥U§Úªº¤½¥qªº¦WºÙ§@¬°°ì¦W¡C What Can I Do?§Ú¯à°µ¨Ç¤°»ò©O¡H

All ICANN accredited registrars and their domain name resellers follow what is called a " Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy " (UDRP).©Ò¦³ICANNªº»{¥i©x¤Î¥LÌªººô°ì¦WºÙªº¸g¾P°Ó«áÄò¤°»ò¬O©Ò¿×ªº¡§ ²Î¤@ªºª§ºÝ¸Ñ¨M¬Fµ¦ ¡¨ ¡]²Î¤@ª§ºÝ¸Ñ¨M¬Fµ¦¡^ ¡C

Under that policy, disputes over ownership of a domain name are usually resolved by court action (litigation) between the claimants.®Ú¾Ú¸Ó¬Fµ¦¡AªÈ¯Éªº©Ò¦³Åvªº°ì¦W³q±`¬O¸Ñ¨Mªk°|ªº¦æ°Ê¡]¶D³^¡^¤§¶¡ªº¯Á½ß¡C

Once the Court rules as to who is entitled to the registration, the domain name registrar will follow that ruling and, if necessary, will transfer the domain name to the owner designated by the Court.¤@¥¹ªk°|³W«h¡A¥H½Ö¦³Åvµù¥U¡A°ì¦Wµù¥U±N¿í´`³o¤@µô¨M¡A¦p¦³¥²n¡A±NÂಾ¸Ó°ì¦Wªº©Ò¦³ªÌ¥Ñªk°|«ü©wªº¡C

In disputes arising out of abusive registrations, eg "cyber squatting" and "cyber piracy", the UDRP provides a fast-track procedure allowing the dispute to be resolved without the frequent cost and delays of Court litigation.¦b©Ò¤Þ°_ªºª§ºÝ²Êµù¥U¡A¨Ò¦p¡§ºôµ¸ÃÛ¡¨©M¡§ºô¤Wµsª©¡¨ ¡A²Î¤@ª§ºÝ¸Ñ¨M¬Fµ¦´£¨Ñ¤F§Ö³t³q¹Dµ{§Ç¡A¨ÏªÈ¯É±o¨ì¸Ñ¨M¡A¨S¦³ÀWÁcªº¦¨¥»©M©µ»~ªºªk°|¶D³^¡C

Domain Lock Security Kills Hijack Risks°ìÂê¦w¥þ±þ¤H§T«ùªº·ÀI

I keep a regular eye on press releases related to domain names - a favourite place is http://www.prweb.com .§Ú¤@ª½©w´ÁµÛ²´©ó·s»Dµo¥¬¬ÛÃöªº°ì¦W-³Ì³ßÅwªº¦a¤è¬Oh ttp://www.prweb.com¡C

Today I saw a release from competitor registrar Moniker.com announcing that all newly registered domain names are automatically locked in the customer's account and at the domain registry to ensure that only an authorized administrator can transfer those domains.¤µ¤Ñ¡A§Ú¬Ý¨ì¤@ÓÄÀ©ñªºÄvª§¹ï¤â®Ñ°O©xªømoniker.com«Å¥¬¡A©Ò¦³·sµn°Oªº°ì¦W¦Û°ÊÂê©w¦b«È¤áªº±b¤á¡A¨Ã¦b°ìµn¿ý¡A¥H½T«O¥u¦³±ÂÅvªººÞ²zû¥i¥HÂಾ³o¨Ç»â°ì¡C

They also say that if the approved administrator unlocks a domain name, and the domain transfer doesn't go through in 10 business days, the domain is automatically relocked to the account.¥LÌÁÙ«ü¥X¡A¦pªG®Ö©wªººÞ²zû¸ÑÂꪺ°ì¦W¡A°ì¦WÂàÅý¨Ã¤£³q¹L¦b10ÓÀç·~¤é¡A¸Óºô°ì¬O¦Û°Êrelocked¸Ó±b¤á¡C And, all transferred domain names have an audit trail that allows them to track down to the date and time of the domain transfer attempt, providing an additional level of domain name protection.©M¡A©Ò¦³Âಾ°ì¦W¦³¤@Ó¼fp½u¯Á¡A¨Ï¥LÌ°l踪¨ìªº¤é´Á©M®É¶¡°ìÂಾªº¹Á¸Õ¡A´£¨ÑÃB¥~ªº¤ô¥¡A°ì¦Wªº«OÅ@¡C

Our policy is to re-lock the domains within 5 days of an unlocking, if a transfer request doesn't come in.
